My dad had a full-sized poster of a black-and-white photo of the Andromeda galaxy, just like Big Jim's above, which he put on some kind of thin board and used for such purposes as laying it sideways across a doorway to keep our dog out of the master bedroom. ;)

I took that Earth picture, cropped off the words at the bottom and resized it to 768 pix high so it perfectly fits my desktop.

Why is the Arctic at the top? Is this some kind of eskimo propoganda?

I've been using a different version of Andromeda (http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap021021.html) for my desktop for a while now. When I get tired of it, I have a whole folder of astrophotos to choose from, most of them from the APOD. Hubble Heritage images also work really well.

I dunno about that Blue Marble photo. The exaggerated elevations make it look a little too fake for my preferences. I'd rather have something just a bit more natural-looking myself.

My wallpaper is a SOHO (http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime-images.html) image (EIT 171 image) I first download one of the videos and made that my wallpaper but the sun roatating on my desktop made my computer lag a little so I stuck to one of the EIT 171 images.

I guess that would make it a full-sized black and white photo.

Hey, Québec is on top. Oh no! That blows the Canadian separatist media conspiracy.

(Quickly now, must threaten everybody within range, clearly enough that my victims complain about it, subtle enough so the BA won't sustain it.)

Sorry, no. It's those damnable New Yorkers at it again. They tried it on in 1945 with the original UN flag:

Original UN Flag (http://flagspot.net/flags/uno.html#1945)

...but were swiftly put in their place. After all, which city owns The Prime Meridian? Sorry, guys...

Current UN Flag (http://flagspot.net/flags/uno.html)

They never give up though...

Funny - anyone notice that the Dell BIOS start-up image is the "Israel on top" space shot?

They're in our computers!
