Notice how they buried the road first. Or am I seeing that correctly?

The digger bit is on right. The arm that holds it is probably a conveyor belt that takes the dirt as it falls from the buckets and carries it back to the center bit, where it is transferred to the section on the right of the pic to be placed in a never ending line of big haul trucks.

It looks like they did bury the road, probably so the tracks didn't destroy the asphalt.

All correct Tog.

I have this one in a large book of huge machines. Lots of nice pics. Horrible unit conversions.

Where is this one located?

Yup, that blade spins clockwise. It's on right.

My departed Dad used to work with heavy equipment like that. It's DANGED impressive to stand in a shovel that can eat several trucks in one gulp!!!

I'd like to see that lined up with the Saturn V/Shuttle crawler-transporter. My guess is that that is "only" about the size of the central part of the excavator.

I presume you guys mean "the other right." To me, the digger wheel is on the left, spins clockwise, and the dug-up stuff flows from left to right.

Fred I think he meant it's one right, as in not wrong.

Other than its size, what is so astronomical about the digger?

Nicolas

That you can see some of its creations from orbit.
