Hey! That's what comets do. Comets are unpredictable. Most follow the predicted light curve. Some, like this one have unexpected outbursts and get brighter than predicted. Some (like Kohoutek in the '70s) don't get as bright as expected. Some, instead of getting brighter, fade out and are never seen again.
