Does anyone out there know where I can find an online solar system viewer? I saw one on nasa.gov showing the orbit of Comet McNaught, but I can't find any others. I want one that will show the relative positions of the planets at any given time, and preferably be able to change viewpoints and zoom.
Then again, if I wait long enough, Google will probably expand the Google Earth software...

Isn't it great how the default settings are set to Jupiter from New Horizons?

If your PC has the space for it 'Celestia' is a program that does what you want. Go Google it. Its free.

How much HD space does Celestia take up? I can only find RAM and processor requirements. I have 1024 MB RAM and a 2.1 GHz dual core processor, so I don't think that's an issue I also have a 19" widescreen monitor, can Celestia be set for a 14:9 aspect ratio without stretching and distorting things?
Also, LucasVB, I love the duck & cover turtle avatar...

HD space should not be an issue for you at all. Not sure about the aspect ratio. You might want to check the user support forum at http://www.shatters.net/celestia/

Can't find anything about widescreen...I'll download it, if it doesn't work I can always uninstall...

It works, no problems/distortion with widescreen, it's just a larger view. By the way, the setup file is 14.7MB and the installed program takes up 27.99 MB...not a problem on a 250 GB hard drive...

Celestia is a great program. If you like programming, it has a built-in scripting language allowing one to become a "power user".
