I think it might be anyone using a part of the Yahoo search engine that is viewing threads on the forum; perhaps.

What is a Yahoo slurp spider?

Yahoo! Slurp FAQ (http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/slurp/index.html)

(Edit, months later: Stupid Yahoo got rid of the Slurp Spider FAQ.
Here's similar: Yahoo's Web Crawler (http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/search/webcrawler/))

Why are you crawling my site?
Yahoo! Slurp is Yahoo!'s web-indexing robot. The Yahoo! Slurp crawler collects documents from the Web to build a searchable index for search services using the Yahoo! search engine. These documents are discovered and crawled because other web pages contain links directing to these documents.

Etc. Etc. Etc.

A poorly engineered kin to Google's web bot and search engine/algorithm which strengthens the quality of search results over time.

Thanks for pointing this out. I came across the term when viewing "Whose online" on the BAUT forum home page. Paging through the list of those online at BAUT you come to numerous users called Yahoo Slurp Spider. Since it was on BAUT, seemed unusual but possibly related to BAUT in general, and BAUT is about space/astrononmy it seemed appropriate to ask about it on the Q&A forum.

Even About BAUT would be a better choice, but I'm glad there was some reasoning that brought your question about Yahoo to Questions and Answers. Thanks.

Some members don't bother to think about how their question relates to space and astronomy, and they were the principle targets of my message -- as they are of this one. More people aware of the purpose of Questions and Answers means a better focus in the forum and a little less work for the mods.

Of course. Something wrong about that?

Yes there is, but I will at least have the courtesy to discuss it here:
