Last poll of the first round.

There will be a poll for the best A.I. of each category followed by the best overall A.I.

Just as a lark, I'll write in Eddie from "Hitchhiker's Guide"

I'm not real enthusiastic about any of these, so I'll write in the Gunslinger from Westworld.

That is a good nomination. Too bad it's a bit late to put him in the poll.

Yeah, I'm kicking myself for not thinking of him earlier. The thing is, AI's are such a staple of TV and movie SF that there's too many to choose from. Most of them are forgettable, but there's probably a few more good ones that have gotten lost in the crowd.

Gunslinger seemed to be much more limited than many of the other nominations. That isn't to say we could make anything as sophisticated any time soon, but he was a hunter/killer with a few scripts for interaction.

Ah, but what's interesting is that he was a fictional character directly copied from another fictional character named Chris Adams, played by Yul Brynner, in the movie The Magnificent Seven. So in Westworld we have the actual actor Yul Brynner playing himself as an AI copy of himself called the Gunslinger impersonating the character Chris Adams, a role which he originated. It's the only instance I know of where an actor plays himself and two fictional characters simultaneously without a single costume change.

Another has crossed my mind: Kameleon from Doctor Who. He appeared in multiple episodes so he would qualify.

What poll should Six of Nine from Tripping the Rift go in?
