If the satellites in question are in geostationary orbit, I think we can forgive the journalist for this bit of literary license. Isn't it more likely, thought, that the photos were taken from a low orbit?

That's the trouble with Yahoo. They only keep those links live for a very short while, then in a couple of days, when someone like me goes to it, you get the message "Sorry page not found".

They probably picked it up from Live Science. Most of the usual news outlets had the same story attributed to the LS author.

You didn't read the article carefully enough. It says they "zoomed in"!
