It seems like we're in for some squirrly situations...

Squirrels burn down man's house ... twice (http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2007/06/squirrels-burn-.html)

"It's like a battlefield around here,"

Are squirrels conspiring against us? Here's some evidence in support of that theory:

Run and hide.

Stand-up comedian and Bob and Tom regular Tim Bedore (http://www.vaguebuttrue.com/) would surely agree.

That's not news. I always knew the little rats-in-fur-coats were evil.

My parents' lounge was trashed by a squirrel last year while they were on holiday. Repairs cost a few thousand pounds - and the insurance company wriggled out of paying.

At the place I used to work out, a tree rat damaged a huge electrical tranformer when it got itself electrocuted in our substation. Luckily it was the power company's responsibility, but it shut us down for a day while they repaired it.

Hmm... I'm not sure if that would be covered by my company either. Homeowners are covered only for certain named perils, and I don't think rampaging woodleand creature is one of them. It's worth looking into.

[disclaimer: i can only speak for ohio insurance laws, as here they are regulated by the state].
