Hi all,

Last night had the best seeing I have seen in a while, so I decided to image Neptune with my CN-212 and ST-402 camera using a 2x barlow.

You can see a detailed description on how the image was taken and processed on the gallery page.

What's the size - in pixels (diameter, say) - of this image of Neptune?

What do you estimate the seeing was at the time?

Thanks for sharing this terrific image with us, Kyle Edwards!

My focal length of my telescope is 2630mm, so with a 2x barlow it is 5260mm, and since the camera's pixel size is 9 microns, the arcseconds per pixel is around .35.

Neptune's angular diameter is 2.3 arcseconds, so the diameter in pixels is around 7. But since the barlow's magnification changes with the distance from the chip to the lens, and the chip is back inside the camera, the actual apparent diameter of the planet in pixels is higher than 7.

Seeing was good, perhaps 7 or 8 out of 10.
