Today's astrophoto was taken by Nowhere Man. It's a nearly complete ring around the Sun, but he doesn't actually know what it is. Do you?

Hundred of billions of tons of murderous gamma rays that could overwhelm the natural defenses of the Earth's magnetosphere ! ! !

Anyway , the idea of bigger solar flares that we know today is interesting . May be a new analysis of ice cores from Antarctica or Greenland can detect them.
