I think they have enough repair materials to fix it. If not, they're stuck.

Were I in charge at NASA, there is no way Christa McAuliffe’s replacement would have ever flown. Rocket powered/atmospheric braking space travel is simply too dangerous. If there had not been the other re-entry disaster, they would have probably have missed this problem, and incinerated this shuttle.
