Hi All,

Here is a shot of the Lunar Eclipse from this morning, although the Midwest only got to see the first half before sunrise ruined the view, but it was great enough to have clear skies for a change….

I took this sequence from about 4:45 am to about 6:30am this morning on August 28, 2007.
Totality(orange moon) was awesome, but the moon was setting fast, it started to fall low into the haze and fog on the horizon, and then dawn set in and made it difficult to see anymore.

I took these with my Canon 10D DSLR (unmodified) for 1/500 sec to 2 sec exposures…at ISO 400 for partials and 800 for totality.

This was done all on a tripod, the long telescope lens propped against a trash can, in my back yard using a WO 66mm APO Refractor with 2" 2x Barlow lens for ~1000mm FL.
It’s not the best sequence I’ve done, but still turned out okay.

Funny thing was, I ran into the house to ask my wife and kids to come see the eclipse, they replied “I already saw it”,

Channel 7 News was broadcasting it live this morning…..go figure!

Boy, that really takes the excitement out of it, it’s definitely not the same as seeing it with your own eyes looking in the sky!!!!

I watched it for about a half-hour but it sure is nice to see pics taken by the forum members. Thanks for posting.
