Cape Canaveral, Florida

Cape Canaveral, Florida, and the NASA John F. Kennedy Space Center are shown is this near-vertical photograph. Numerous launch pads line the Atlantic Ocean coast near the center of the photograph. To the north of the multiple launch pads, the Space Shuttle landing runway, the Shuttle Assembly Area, and Shuttle Launch Pads A and B are visible. To the south of the multiple launch pads are Port Canaveral and the city of Cocoa Beach, Florida. To the west of the space complex, five causeways span the Indian and Banana Rivers. Interstate Highway 95 is the main artery traversing south to north just west of the Florida cities of Cocoa and Titusville. (NASA)

If you like this kind of thing (I do) then you might check out NASA's Earth from Space page. Amazing stuff.

I can also suggest another one. http://terraserver.microsoft.com The pictures are of rather high quality and you can zoom in enough so 1 pixel= 1 meter. Photos are black and white, but good none the less

ACM--Yeah, I spend too much time on Terraserver, looking for interesting spots to investigate on the ground. I wish the photos covered the world and not just the USA, though.

Oh, and welcome to the forum, ACM!

Doh! The terraserver only has detailed pics of the U.S., so I can't locate my current position. I can find all of my relatives houses though.

OTOH, as I was taking off on a trip back to the States last month, I took a couple of digital photos of Osaka from the plane. It's amazing the detail I can see of my own neighborhood. I can find my own apartment in it. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
