According to this (http://www.aerith.net/comet/catalog/0008P/2008.html), Comet 8P/Tuttle will come rather close to the Andromeda Galaxy while at magnitude 6-8 in late December. It might make a good photo.

With a ~five day window, a series of images would make an interesting animation for someone lucky enough to actually get clear skies.

It is M33 not the Andromeda Galaxy - M31, that the comet passes close to. You'd need a pretty wide angle lens making the comet very hard to see if trying to get it and M31 in the same shot.

The attached chart of it passing by M33 shows the night of December 31 UT. This is the evening of the 30th for those in North America. The chart was made using The Sky 6 and the orbital elements provided in link in the original post. For a short time I had up an incorrect chart due to a typing error in the coordinates that moved the comet too far from M33. This is the correct chart. I pulled the incorrect one. Sorry for the confusion if you saw it for a bit.
