I finally got one image that wasn't through clouds. I took a series for 6 hours and one set was cloud free. This is one very colorful comet if you go deep enough. The pseudo nucleus is at 11 O'clock against the edge of one of the ejecta shells. Field stars are in the larger dust coma. The outer halo is gas not dust. But there's no hint of a tail. Not unusual for a comet in the asteroid belt.

14" LX200R, L=10x10", RGB=1x10" each all binned 2x2, STL-11000XM, Paramount ME

Reduced 50% for bandwidth and because there's no fine detail anyway.

Beautiful picture Rick! Are those colors natural or enhanced to show the detail?

Natural, I don't do false or enhanced colors. The green is really that strong.

You keep posting the best shots I have seen of this comet Rick. Now as for the gas... Copper and water vapour? I am not so sure about copper at this temperature Oh for a spectrograph. I hope this isn't too much speculation for this forum but your photos are so good that they invite new questions.

Kind regards
Matt
