I was talking with Phil (name drop time) last night in DC and asked about some movies and he suggested that I drop my questions in here as they all tend to get answered so here I go:

I am thinking of an animated (possible claymation?) kid's movie from the 70s that could possibly have been Christmas (or holiday) related and takes place partially on Mars.

I remember huge holes in the crust where the <spaceships?> emerged with a weird thrumming noise when they flew.

Sorry for the sparcity of details.

Ring any bells anyone?

Thanks in advance, Corsair the Rational Pirate.

Could you be thinking of "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"? It was released (spawned) in 1964 but it's the only bell that rang for me. Check out the Wikipedia link below. Under external links, it appears as if the movie can be downloaded so you can always check it out to see if it is your movie. At the very bottom of the page, there is a link for "Mars in Fiction" which sends you to a list of various Mars related books/films. Perhaps that might help if the Santa Claus movie isn't the one you're looking for.

Nope, this was more of an animated movie (but Phil did bring that up last night). I will now do some more research on the intartubes.

Thanks for the link.

Could it be Pinocchio in Outer Space (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0186449/)? I vaguely recall the Space Whale came from underground on Mars, chasing a spaceship. With a weird noise.

Wow! Phil was right, you nailed it! As soon as I saw Pinocchio in your post I knew you were right.

Now I am going to have to try and track that sucker down. Unfortunately, it probably sucks.

Thanks a bunch. :liar:

Your welcome. Always happy to help in the pursuit of bad movies!
