Flavor-filled excerpt, to save you a trip if you're maybe not interested, or have seen it before:

I'm essentially looking for all sorts of things that
were shown on TV and in the movies, that were indicated fell into
government hands and were never heard from again.

(Like the warehoused Ark of the Covenant from the first Indian Jones movie.)

I'm also including
things that some folks claim have existed for years (like the 100 MPG
carburetor) that the Government has decided to hide away somewhere.
[...]
The UFO that purportedly crashed in the early '50s in New Mexico

Evidence providing the TRUE story of the Kennedy assassination

Judge Crater

What's left of Flight 19

Long list.

For that information read Hogfather by Terry Pratchett.
It's seasonal as well.

This one:

Part of a Soviet Sub recovered by Howard Hughes' Glomar Explorer back
in 1971
really is in a government warehouse somewhere.

And although I understood probably only about half of these, I'm old enough that this one:

The Wombat listing in VMS Help
brought back some memories!

A few weeks ago, I was doing laundry while making supper. I turned my back on the laundry basket briefly. When I turned again, I saw my young mischievous cat ZoŽ trotting happily towards the basement in possession of one of my socks. My other and equally young and mischievous cat Kaylee had the other sock, and was just as happily dragging it off in the opposite direction towards the guest bedrooms.

Folks who are missing only one sock apparently have only one thieving pet. Pet folks who get 'em in pairs apparently also lose 'em in pairs.

Mystery solved. Glad I could help.

I know my cats were up to something but just could not put my finger on it.

You skipped it. :)

Hundreds of millions of dirty socks, each tagged with the time, date
and location of the laundry in which they disappeared
