BA Blog: Coast to Coast AM Thursday night (http://www.badastronomy.com/bablog/2007/12/26/coast-to-coast-am-thursday-night/)

Just a quick note for now: I will be on the wildly popular late-night radio show Coast to Coast AM with George Noory Thursday night, from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Pacific time (7:00 - 10:00 a.m. Universal Time). We just got this set up, so I donít have a list of topics, but Iím sure weíll talk about my upcoming book, the past year in astronomy news, and other cool stuff (maybe even the Star of Bethlehem). Iíll be posting more about this when itís nailed down, and Iíll be putting up a page on the main site with topics and links as well.

BA Blog: C2C AM tonight (http://www.badastronomy.com/bablog/2007/12/27/c2c-am-tonight/)

Just a reminder: I will be on Coast to Coast AM radio tonight starting at midnight Mountain (US) time, for three hours (I plan on having a nice cup of coffee with dinner).

Iíve put up a preliminary page (http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/c2c_dec272007.html) with some links to the possible topics weíll be covering, as well as links to the other times Iíve been on the show. Iíll try to update it tomorrow with more links to what we talked about.

The show is syndicated, and quite a few of the stations that carry it stream the show live. Here is a list of affiliates (http://www.coasttocoastam.com/info/wheretolisten.html). I personally used to listen to the stream on the Canadian station CFUN (http://www.cfun.com/). YMMV.

Coast to Coast AM :: December 27 Recap (http://www.coasttocoastam.com/shows/2007/12/27.html#recap):

Astronomer Phil Plait spoke about various space-related news and stories. An asteroid (2007 WD5) has a 1 in 75 chance (possibly 1 in 25) of hitting Mars on Jan. 30th. [...] Regarding theories about the Star of Bethlehem, Plait suggested there could have been a conjunction of planets such as Jupiter and Venus, and the story got exaggerated over the years. He shared his favorite astronomy images of 2007 [...] We might have an understanding of the universe's mysterious dark matter within five years, Plait said. He also touched on such topics as the eventual death of our sun, NASA's upgrades for Hubble, and gamma ray bursts.

A good time was had by all.

I believe it was all 3 hours following the first. I didn't hear the last hour.

The BA was not on at 10 PM PST. He went on at 11 PM PST. I heard 11 PM PST to 1 AM PST and I believe it it was planned to go until 2 AM PST.

Thanks for the enthusiasm, folks!

I wish I could record the show and let others download it, but that's illegal, since they charge for subscriptions. I don't even have a copy for myself. There are ways of getting it live; when it's broadcast you can use stream-to-record software, for example. But of course it's too late now for that show.
