Moderators suggested I might post request assistance with technical questions relative to a Sci-Fi premise HERE.

So: My dilemma is that I need a habitable asteroid with warmth from a thermal core. Of course it seems that there are no warm asteroid, none that we know of anyway. I need one with a warm core to be finally discovered in 2050. What could cause such a scenario? Recent collision?
