In an Iranian Image, a Missile Too Many New York Times (http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/07/10/in-an-iranian-image-a-missile-too-many/?ex=1231819200&en=74b0a84ace14becb&ei=5087&excamp=NYT-E-I-NYT-E-AT-0715-L1&WT.mc_ev=click&WT.mc_id=%20NYT-E-I-NYT-E-AT-0715-L1)

It would appear that Iran manipulated a photo of what was supposed to be four missiles launching simultaneously. This was done to cover up a misfire. The photo was used by several media outlets before the tapering was discovered.

This reminds me of the stories of the USSR bringing dead cosmonauts back to life for photo ops.

^ yes, perhaps but I was hoping it be a discussion of the use or over-use of manipulated images in the media rather then talk of sabre rattling.

Did the photo really come from Iran?

Maybe coincidental.

The article said that they got the altered image from the Web site of Sepah News, the media arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
So yeah I'd say it came from Iran.

Almost everything now can be photoshopped , especially if it's for media purposes.

We just have to have a keen eye and mind to noticed it.

I read about that last week on the Times
From this linky: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/article4312319.ece

....you'll notice that the missile second from right has clearly been pasted in - its launch contrail is identical to that of the one to the left and the cloud of desert sand in its wake is identical to that on the right.

Did you see the Daily Show coverage of this? There were discussing that how, now that Iran has mastered photoshop, they pose a significant rickrolling threat...

Photoshop in the wrong hands can be a serious security issue.
