Hey all,
Just a quick post and a totally geeky question.
I am developing a new launcher for my pocket PC/Phone The At&T tilt running windows mobile 6

I was wondering is anyone knew what the interface would look like of the fictional Star Trek "tricoder".

I thought it may be neat to emulate one.

plus the functionality isnt so far off. (minus the neutron emmiter)

Well I am not a trekkie. But as far as I remember in the TOS (The Original Series) they have never shown the interface.

Maybe try some fan site?

The TNG tech manual has a full drawing of the interface with labels for the different functions.

If you can get your hands on a copy of the Starfleet Technical Manual by Franz Joseph, you'll find what you're looking for.

ETA: ...if you're looking for the TOS version.

TOS tricorder (http://blogs.amctv.com/scifi-scanner/medcal-tricorder.jpg)
I too don't ever recall seeing something on the screen, though I found this picture (http://cache.io9.com/assets/resources/2008/04/dfxw3jg8_129hspv2kgc_b.jpg), where I think someone added it.

STNG tircorder (http://www.computermuseum.li/Testpage/tricorder.jpg)
Screen looks like standard STNG computer screen. Here (http://www.mobilecatcher.blogspot.com/2008/02/turn-your-iphone-into-star-trek.html) is a blog where someone talks about doing it for their IPhone.

(minus the neutron emmiter)

And the overloaded portable micro-nuke function such as Kirk used, and with his communicator, no less! Spock still managed a terrific explosion with his tricorder.

A TOS communicator cell phone should have been widely avail. by now.
