I wanted to find some data on the water temperature vs depth for a single point in either a lake or ocean to use for a math test I'm making. I've been able to find a graph of it, but no actual data.

If anyone has any time to try find such data that would be cool. I'm teaching rates of change and this would be an interesting graph to study. The type of graph I think is called a Thermocline, according to an education website I found (www.windows.ucar.edu (http://www.windows.ucar.edu), called "windows to the universe")

Thanks if you can help (and thanks even you can't! heh)

Pete
Also, would anyone know what type of curve this data would follow?

Just off the top of my head, Mr Eldergill, I'm thinking of El Nino and La Nina.

cursorily, I hit this one:
http://www.ucar.edu/communications/factsheets/elnino/

don't know if it would be of any immediate use for your quest.

edit:
and how about this one?
http://esminfo.prenhall.com/science/geoanimations/animations/26_NinoNina.html

seems my first linkage, is same source as you depict....i'll look around....

Hi Pete:

I think you may find something useful here (http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/OC5/WOA01/woa01dat.html).

I haven't downloaded anything from there myself, but at similar sites for other datasets I've found the info easy enough to use.

Cheers.
