Some time ago I stumbled across the site (http://www.thelostcivilizations.com/) which is a look into Ancient Astronaut claims.

While the site also serves the purpose of getting the authors resume onto the internet he has also written a very interesting series of articles about H.P. Lovecraft and the inspiration his writings have provided to those who write about Ancient Astronauts & Lost Civilisations. The best part of this is the section entitled "The Cthulhu Comparison" where select passages from the writings of Lovecraft are compared with equivalent passages from a number of lost civilisation proponents, the first one by Graham Hancock is a hoot!

Not everything inspired by the works of H P Lovecraft is doom, gloom & green slime.

Just check this (http://www.macguff.fr/goomi/unspeakable/home.html) out.

Cartoon number 9 provides the proof that Heavy Metal is really dangerous
