What have happend? First week without any astronomycast in over 2 years.. And now its 2 weeks since the date of the last episode.. No questionshows, no regular shows..
Have astronomycast died?
Have you guys got to much to do atm or what is going on?

I thougt you would have atleast 1,2 or 3 backupshows recorded in advance to throw in when you wouldnt have time to make one during a while.. I mean you have said on the shows that you have got so much content you can barley hold it back to once a week?

Coming back soon?

Yeah and also ppl have lives to live... Just rewind to a previous episode... It's well worth repeating them.

It looks like Astronomy cast is now on hold for 2009 as Pamela is now involved with activities relating to the International Year of Astronomy

See here (http://www.starstryder.com/2009/01/15/tomorrow-in-st-louis/)

It was nice while it lasted, and there is a large back catalogue, but as there is this concerted outreach to bring astronomy to the masses, I suppose all good things must eventually come to an end, including astronomy cast

Life happens. That's why I'm about twelve episodes and many questions shows behind in listening to Astronomy Cast.

Fraser and Pamela have done a great job, but doing a long, informative podcast every week is a lot of work. (Try doing a five minute podcast on your favorite topic. Easy, wasn't it?) They could have kept the questions shows bottled up to send out when life got hectic. But instead, they shared them when they had them.

There are many podcasts out there on astronomy. Maybe you've heard them all. Have you listened to all the original Slacker Astronomy podcasts (http://www.slackerastronomy.org/wordpress/podcast/)? That link has them in reverse order. Start at the bottom. Or start here (http://www.slackerastronomy.org/wordpress/2005/04/) in April 2005 about the time they hit their stride and kept running.

Are you getting the 365 Days of Astronomy (http://365daysofastronomy.org/) podcasts? On Pamela's Star Stryder blog, she links to Quirks and Quarks although I've never listened to that one.

I'm guessing that Astronomy Cast isn't dead. It's just on a break. But even if it were done, what an awesome collection of explanations. Thank you, Fraser and Pamela.

To paraphrase Mark Twain

News of its death appears to have been greatly exagerated (http://www.astronomycast.com/astronomy/cosmology/ep-123-homogeneity/) :eh:

No, I think it really did die, on account of this being the Internet so the rules are a bit different: If you haven't been seen in a couple days, you might as well be dead. If you haven't been seen in a week, you probably missed your own wake. If you haven't been seen in a couple weeks, you're forgotten by everyone but a bunch of old-timers.

There are many podcasts out there on astronomy.

My second favorite is the Jodcast from Jodrell Bank:

The last show, a questions show, shows 21-Jan-09 as the date in ITunes.

IYA must be clobbering our favorite podcasters!

According to Fraser's profile on Facebook he has lost his voice, hence the lack of Astronomy cast episodes
