View Full Version : Why Gravitons?

I'm wondering why current theories need the idea of gravitons, if gravity is due to space being curved. Why do we need the idea of particles like gravitons? I guess I could ask the question a different way: Why is gravity considered a force at all? If an object is traveling through space and takes the shortest possible path, given that matter has caused space to curve, then is that really the same thing as a force acting on that object? I'm sure I'm misunderstanding something fundamental.
