Hi guys, can somebody tell me what the antenna thingy is sticking out from behind the boulder on Station 2, Eva 1, Apollo 15.

I thought it might be the device to find the local vertical (cant' remember the name).

Can anyone confirm ? Thanks.

The photograph I've looked at is AS15-85-11449HR

It's not the gnomon because you can see the gnomon and this thingy in AS15-85-11443 (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/alsj/a15/AS15-85-11443HR.jpg).
Also it's not behind the rock but on top of the rock.

If you have the Spacecraft Films DVD set, you can see Jim leaving the lunar soil rake (http://history.nasa.gov/alsj/tools/judy38.jpg) on top of the rock at 00:27:08 mark. The rake can be attached to a long extension handle, but Jim detached the rake because he needed the extension handle to take a core sample at around 00:31:00 mark. I think he left it on top of the rock so that he could easily pick it up without having to kneel down.
