According to the Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/michael-jackson/5784734/Moon-crater-named-after-Michael-Jackson.html)

Bad Astronomy. However the agency that did the deed was not the IAU. so it carries no legitimacy.

So according to that article he paid 32,880 dollars for 1200 acres ... I wonder if he did the walk through on the property ...No really , who has the rights to sell land on the moon ? And i wonder what the deed for the land looks like ?

Anyone who can find someone stupid enough to buy. Absent authorities to uphold them, property rights are meaningless, and there are no authorities on the Moon.
