View Full Version : Ion Propulsion

From what I have heard, ion propulsion seems like the best option for interplanetary travel. Of the different types of ion propulsion, a Hall effect or VASIMR engine would probably be best, based on what I read from Ion Thruster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ion_thruster). So my question is, which of these methods would be the most likely to be used, and how long would it take to get to:
1. Mars
2. Jupiter
3. Saturn
4. Uranus
5. Neptune
6. Alpha Centauri

The method described in http://home.comcast.net/~mbmcneill7/site/?/page/Interstellar_Transport_and_Travel/&PHPSESSID=b442f5ad6ef6f515ccee4cf252954859. See benefits sectionns for times requested above.
