Fraser, Jon Voisey. Journal editors of the primary journals in the field, The Astrophysical Journal, Zetschrift fur Physics, Physical Review D,Astronomy and Astrophysics, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society,Physics Letters, JETP, etc usually require 10-12 events to corroborate a new particle, or 13 a baker's dozen. Two is plenty risky with a high background, and all from the same experiment. What we would like to see to claim an effect is a flurry in all the detectors worldwide at the same time to eliminate coincidences from gamma ray bursts, TEV cosmic ray showers, and prompt supernovae neutrino showers.
