Re: Mars flag. Cool. Shame, but I understand. Maybe you could rustle up a different design?

  3. Thanks PraedSt. I've just revamped the blog late yesterday/today; added a handful of new elements.

No, actually I'm not very romantic. ;-) I am hopeless about suspense and supernatural, lol.

Correct use of the pronoun 'I'. Wow.
  7. --also be sure to check the Gloomy Sunday link in the My Blog List section. It belongs to Absinthe; she's been blogging longer than I.

Where's this blog then? Do I google Nadme?
  10. Hmmmm, yes. Mostly the Gothic novels I'm referring to started with Rebecca; a novel from the 1930s. The heyday for Gothic I'm referring to extended from roughly the late 1940s through the mid-1970s [I have a blog if you'd like to check it out. I'm a also Dark Shadows fan]. Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin is a good example. Gothic with supernatural or suspense/intrigue elements [I prefer supernatural].

The Gothics I read are centered on a lead female character, but it's not "feminist" per se. There are good and bad characters of both genders. Generally she's alone somehow, ends up on a wealthy estate (governess, nurse, librarian). She gets caught up in sinister and/or dire situations, often not of her own doing...and must find a way out. Nearly all of these novels include a bit of romance too; at story's end she and a male character have fallen in love. But the romance aspects generally aren't syrupy. There are lots of male fans of these Gothics as well.
