Another movie (loosely) based on a PKD short story

I see the "Adjustment Bureau" is coming to the theatres soon....seems to me that I read PKD short by the same name. I guess he's in a stiff competition with Stephen King as far as the number of books/short stories that he's had made into movies....Dick's I can name

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" aka Blade Runner (novel)
    "Paycheck" aka ??? (short story)
    "Screamers" aka??? (short story)
"Total Recall" aka "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" (short story)
"A Scanner Darkly" aka "A Scanner Darkly" (novel)
    "the one with Tom Cruise"
    "the one with Ben Affleck"

I think Stephen King has many more than that. Some of these are from Television movies or stories turned into episodes of series.

    in no particular order:

    The Stand
    Christine
    The Shining
    The Mangler
    The Mangler 2
    The Mangler Reborn
    The Mist
    It
    Dreamcatchers
    The Running Man
    Thinner
    Firestarter
    Firestarter 2
    The Talisman
    Salem's Lot
    A Return to Salem's Lot
    Salem's Lot (remake)
    Stand by Me
    The Shawshank Redemption
    Sleepwalkers
    The Langoliers
    Maximum Overdrive
    The Green Mile
    Carrie
    Carrie 2
    Creepshow
    Creepshow 2
    Creepshow III
    Creepshow IV
    Cujo
The Dead Zone (also a TV series)
    Children of the Corn
    Children of the Corn II
    Children of the Corn III
    Children of the Corn IV
    Children of the Corn V
    Children of the Corn 666
    Children of the Corn: Revelation
Children of the Corn (TV remake)
    Cat's Eye
    Silver Bullet
    Pet Sematary
    Pet Sematary 2
    Tales From the Darkside
    The Dark Half
    Needful Things
    Delores Claiborn
    The Night Flier
    Apt Pupil
    Hearts in Atlantis
    Secret Window
    Riding the Bullet
    1408
    No Smoking
    Dolan's Cadillac
    The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger
    Sometimes The Come Back
    Sometimes The Come Back... Again
Sometimes The Come Back... For More
    Golden Years
    The Tommyknockers
    Quicksilver Highway
    Trucks
    Chinga
    Rose Red
    The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer
    Storm of the Century
    Gramma
    Sorry, Right Number
    Kingdom Hospital
    Desperation
    Nightmares and Dreamscapes
    Haven
    Under the Dome
    The Revelations of Becka Paulson
    Misery
    Graveyard Shift
    The Lawnmower Man
    The Lawnmower Man 2

I think I got them all. Check here if you want: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_b...hen_King_works

"Based on" are the important words here. Most of those (all of the sequels) have only the title in common with anything King wrote.
If you're looking for adaptations that more that just vaguely related to the story they're "based on", you can remove 2/3 of them.

    "Screamers" = PKD's "Second Variety".

At least, that's what my anthology back matter says...

Even if you get rid of sequels and remakes, a lot of them are proper adaptations, insofar as any movie can be an adaptation or based on a book or short story. If the author signs off on it, then I say it counts. It's not like what happend with "Starship Troopers". *shivers*

There may be a lot more King adaptations than that. He maintains a list of "Dollar Babies" which are stories that he sells the rights for $1 US to film students.

You will be able to record The Stand on their twice for King too, since the plans on a movie/movie series are moving out of Development Hell.

And sometimes I wonder if A Scanner Darkly should count as a movie or a Charles Schwab commercial.
