    Searching the forum

I want to find a thread that was active around the middle
of July 2007. I don't know the thread title. It was probably
in this sub-forum (Introductions and Feedback). The key
words I can think of to search for are kinda mediocre.
Any suggestions how to go about it?

If you're using search terms, all I can suggest is to try Google with the search term "site:cosmoquest.org". The board's search engine has been very miss or miss over the past few years.

If you're at all sure of the year, you could also try opening the forum and showing all threads since inception, going to 'last', then working your way back from the start of 2007, hoping the thread title jumps out at you.

Otherwise, you might describe what you're looking for in some detail. Somebody might remember the thread well enough to help you find it.

That worked. Pretty quickly, too. For a moment I thought
there were over a thousand pages of threads, but there were
only 65 pages containing over a thousand threads. No prob.

However, it turns out the graphic images by Doctor Know that
were in that thread can no longer be found. Here's the page
where the images should be, but aren't:

Do you happen to know where to find Doctor Know's original
artwork? I want full-res of the final art for the BAUT banner
    but without the URL.

By the way, I determined that the date was mid-July 2007 by
browsing through archived versions of the forum on the Wayback
Machine. But there are a lot of very large gaps in what threads
they have. I was able to find a related thread which implied
that it was Doctor Know who did the artwork. He hasn't been
    here since later that year.

Unfortunately, the website he was storing the art on doesn't exist any more, which is why it's not showing up in the thread.
Everything I need to know I learned through Googling.

Try the internet archive for his site, maybe you can find it there. I don't know how they decide which sites to store or if they even store images, but it's worth a try.

I just checked. It's not archived.

Thanks, caveperson. That should have been obvious, but
it wasn't. I'll go look for that now. I know that the Archive
stores images because many images used on BAUT back
then showed up. But not all. It's quite spotty.

ETA: Bummer. I'll look, too, but what hope do I have if the
    grandmaster himself can't find it?

Didn't anyone besides Doctor Know keep a copy of the
    original full-res artwork?

Would you like one of us to change the title to something more descriptive like "looking for old BAUT original artwork", and move it to OTB?

This page has a version that's not too bad (found using a Google images search).

Thanks, Grey, but I do already have a higher-resolution copy
than that. I don't think what I have is full-resolution, though,
and the BAUT URL hides some of the artwork.

    The banner I have is a 600 x 199 pixel PNG.

I also have a 1185 x 1185 pixel PNG of the Universe Today
Rocket logo. That's the sort of resolution I'd like... but I
know doesn't exist for the other parts of the banner.
