    Moon and earth distance

    Is tit true that moon is slowly going far from the earth? I have heard about it long ago in Discovery channel. What will happen if it is true?

    The rate is meters per centuries. As far as effects, it makes the day longer, but the change is really slow.

    If you want to wait a really long time, I guess eclipses won't be as visually stunning.

    At this rate of about an inch or two per year, in about 600 million years, there won't any more total solar eclipses because of the recession of the moon from the Earth. If the Sun grows in size during this time, then the final solar eclipse will occur even sooner.
