When not being allowed to go out, her reply was "but next year I'll turn 16!" A little bit of math later, this means that she's 14 at the moment. (still has to turn 15 this year, so next year she'll turn 16). But obviously "but I'm 14!" was not a good argument to be allowed to go out.

When we realize that patterns don't exist in the universe, they are a template that we hold to the universe to make sense of it, it all makes a lot more sense.
