Over the past month or so one of our cats has become an enthusiastic lap-sitter. We haven't had a lap-cat in more than 20 years, now we do!

There were several movies I watched all the way through because my last cat was a lap-sitter, and it was watch the movie or disturb him by getting up to change the disc. I stream enough now so that wouldn't come up anymore.

Well, I'm finally getting a patent, it has been granted by the European Patent Office and should be officially issued middle of next year (the whole process took about 4 years). And though I am one of several authors, I personally wrote large chunks of this one myself.

It ultimately isn't a big deal, but it has been a personal sore point for me for a long time that I didn't have one.

We had early Thanksgiving dinner yesterday with my niece and her husband.
Turkey was probably the best I've cooked, company was great, we've got lots of leftovers (as do they), and there's a kettle of stock in the fridge waiting to become delicious soup. Lots of stock, actually, I'll have to freeze a bit of it.

Do you mind re-phrasing this? I just can't make sense of it this time.

Basically instead of getting a 2 subs for 50 dollars I got 2 for the price of one just by luck, I didn't know it was their anniversary.

Agamemnon. I don't think I've every been to a Subway, but that seems like some pretty expensive fast food. How big are these subs?

Christmas presents bought, wrapped and labelled. Christmas cards written, addressed and stamped. Mission accomplished, and a day ahead of schedule. Now I can spend December safely out of reach of the enforced festive cheer in the town centre.

I trust BRA added a zero to the price. Even Canadian prices aren't that bad.

    Ah, that would make sense.
I actually have been to a Subway, I now realize - in Nome, Alaska, bizarrely enough.
I can't remember a single thing about it, which is maybe a bad sign.

I got my insulin and a meeting with a dietitian/diabetes councilor. I don't have a lot of bad food habits, but man, before this, I felt like I was spinning the "bad food choices" wheel. When I think "healthy foods" I want to revert to vegetarianism. Not a bad choice, but you need a great diet plan to do it successfully. I'm not sure I'm going to make that hop yet, but maybe if I can get these numbers under control I can make it a goal someday.

I feel a little more in control, now. Time to get that blood sugar down from an A1c of 12. Basically, the medicine I was taking wasn't the right solution. I was zig-zagging from 36 mg/dl to over 475 in a day. That's exhausting.

    Musing today...

On my desk is a coffee mug that my wife gave to me shortly before I retired. It says:

"Not my circus. Not my monkeys."

    Yeah......

Wow, "not my monkeys" brings back memories of role playing in training sessions at a company where I worked 30 years ago. I'm very happy that it's a distant memory.

We have a cat and a dog. The dog is a mutt, but I suspect she has some Pitt Bull lineage. She weighs 70 pounds. The cat is normal size at around 8 pounds. They usually ignore each other, but the other day the cat was acting particularly feisty.

We were preparing for bed, and I was already upstairs brushing my teeth, while Mrs Extravoice had just let the dog inside from a final potty run when I heard what sounded like the most viscous dog attack ever. At first, I thought a raccoon or something snuck in.

As I ran down the stairs, I could tell from my wifeís shouts that the dog and cat were battling. From the sounds, I expected to find a dismembered cat. At the bottom of the stairs, the cat shot past me, with the dog in pursuit.

I grabbed the dogís collar and escorted her outside. I then searched for the cat, expecting a late night visit to the emergency veterinarian.

I found her under the bed, physically fine, except for fur matted by dog saliva. It turns out that the cat ambushed the dog upon entry to the house. Iím happy she restrained her response, even though it didnít sound that way.

Tonight one niece was in the local Santa Claus Parade marching with the cadets. The other was in Elf The Musical based off of the movie, really enjoyed it but the best part of the evening was the reactions from a six year old who was sitting besides my mother.

I found this video a little bit ago and have been watching it. I spent years having engineering responsibility for most all the mechanical claptrap you'll see, including the throttle stand, control columns, and mechanisms under the floor. Kind of nice to see it again after 10 years.
