    Philosophical and Hypothetical ATM Discussion

    What if there was an accurate description of nature which is based on very simple and basic principle?
    What if to derive accurate predictions from this basic principle including calculating all mainstream constants requires huge computation efforts which are not available today (but maybe possible in the future)?
    What if in order to see this basic principle we would need to put aside our today's mainstream fundamental assumptions, although it would be possible to derive the mainstream assumptions with huge computation efforts which are not available today?

    Those are just the starting point of this discussion, they are not the questions, it is not claimed that they are true and they are not meant to be the focus of the discussion, however for this discussion let's pretend that they are true.

    The questions are:

    1) If we had this basic principle,
    1.a) do you think that it would be useful in anyway?
    1.b) could it improve our understanding of the universe although we could not calculate anything out of it at this stage?

    2) Do you think that scientists would want to find this basic principle if they knew that it leads to such a problematic computation issue?

    3)
    3.a) would something change in your answers to 1 and 2 if we would know that we will never have enough computation capabilities to address that basic principle?
    3.b) would something change in your answers to 1 and 2 if today top super-computers are capable of handling the required computations?

    4) Suppose that someone suggest some basic principle which can be a candidate for 'THE' basic principle in the following way:
    * it is unambiguously defined
    * it is not parametrizable
    * it is very difficult to disprove that someone's suggestion
    * it is very difficult to make predictions and calculations out of that someone's suggestion
    4.a) is it worth discussing this suggestion within the scientific community?
    4.b) is it worth the effort of trying to test that someone's suggestion?
    4.c) if you think that the answer to 4.b is no, than what do you think are the minimal conditions, if at all, that it will be worth putting the effort?

    Thank you very much for your patience

    The questions are meant just to start some conversation, it is better to have open discussion which is not strict to the questions posted.
    The main purpose of the thread is to investigate if scientific methods can handle the starting point postulation.
    If after 4 days no one replied to this post than something is wrong with it, I would love to hear what you think, anything about it

    Thanks

    Welcome to the CosmoQuest forums, ohad. I'm afraid you misunderstand the purpose of our Against The Mainstream forum. This is where advocates of non-mainstream theories present, defend, and answer questions about their claims. It is not intended as an environment for speculative, developmental, or meta discussion. If you haven't already done so, please read our rules, linked in my signature line below. You might also read the ATM Forum Advice also linked.
