We'll probably still get it on Sky.

But will Discovery still be on Netflix? Picard is on Amazon Prime.

Honestly, do people still watch broadcast television anymore?

    Yes.
I'd rather wait till the dust settles on this video streaming gold rush. If it ever settles.

I was hoping the dust would settle, but it seems not to be happening. I really donít want to subscribe to half a dozen streaming services for one show or mini series on each.

You speak of the access model? Like should pay per view be an alternative to subscriptions? That would make sense once they figure it out.

Alternatively, move to YouTube style ad based funding for those who don't want to pay directly.

But streaming itself is unlikely to not be a fad. Broadcast television with its TV Guide and Radio Times are on the way out probably.

    Doubtful. It's on Amazon Prime.

That's exactly my problem. I already pay for cable (as much for Internet as TV, though I also watch a bunch of stuff on cable TV). But on top of that I'm not going to pay for a bunch of streaming services, particularly just to get a program or two.

Some people (e.g. in rural areas) donít have cheap access to high speed internet with a high enough data limit to allow watching lots of HDTV.

I have to settle for DVR-ing satellite TV.

Or how about people outside the US sometimes these services don't work because of legal reasons. But here in Canada if have Space you can get Star Trek Discovery and Picard when ot comes out.

I look at it this way - I regained an a hour per week for 10 weeks. Orville was OK but not enough for $$.

That picture just reminds us of the whole $25.95 they spend per episode.

It truly is a successor the old Trek. It looks really, really cheap.

Though such limitations generally work in its favour. The overproduced Discovery is the lesser of the two despite its much higher production values.

Can one still purchase views of Amazon Prime shows per episode? I've done that in the past for shows that are worth it to me. It's a lot up front, but then the 2 years or more pass before there's anything I want to see and it all works out. I doubt there's such an option for CBS All Access.
