    Washington Oktoberfest Trip 2019

The Wife and I just returned from our vacation and it was a great one. We flew into Seattle for a night and drove a southern route by Mount Rainier to Yakima for a night, another in Walla Walla, then three in Leavenworth for Oktoberfest, followed by another in Seattle. We had great luck with the weather, having had no significant rain until Monday.

Of course, we made stops in wine country along the way...

But the highlight of the trip, as usual, was Leavenworth...

While there, we took a day trip north to Lake Chelan and its wineries...

This had to be out best trip yet. We normally go every other year but we’re already making tentative plans to go again next year and spend a little more time in Walla Walla.

Very nice. But you need to be in Burlington the last Saturday in September. Because reasons!

And if your travels ever bring you to spend lengthy time on the west of the state, especially south of Seattle . . . .

They were, with few exceptions. We took advantage of a wine tourism program offered by the airline, that allowed us to check a case of wine as baggage, free of charge. We also had a half- and a quarter-case shipped from two other wineries. Three bottles stowed away in our luggage. too.

Brave, we haven't had a lot of fun stories when discussing baggage handlers.

We've had an issue or two ourselves but we bubble-wrapped the devil out of them, sealed them in plastic bags, and padded them with clothing. It also help that we have hard-side suitcases.
