    The 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 was a huge celebration, and Apollo 13 may be an equally big commotion. Apollo 12 is tough sell in the middle.     One of my favorite missions. Surveyor 3 visit was awesome.

    I was saying on Tumblr earlier today that itís so common in fiction for people traveling to the moon or Mars to accidentally come across an earlier spacecraft that the audience will recognize at some point in their time there (Calvin and Hobbes finding a Viking lander, the kids in Magic Tree House ending up at the Apollo 11 site), but Apollo 12 visiting Surveyor 3 (deliberately, not accidentally) is probably the closest we have come to such a scene in reality.
