    Russia’s Aerospace Forces launched a Soyuz-2-1b rocket Friday, carrying a satellite designed to give the Kremlin advance warning of missile attacks. Soyuz lifted off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome at about 10:31 Moscow Time (07:31 UTC), beginning a multi-hour mission to deliver the Tundra No.4 satellite into an elliptical Molniya orbit. A successful mission was declared at around 13:00 UTC.

    Nice, I’ve been wanting to see that column in the United States row tick up for a long time. And of course it really represents something new: The location is the US, but it is really more of a private launch (though still with government crew). I’ve been waiting to see private launches since I was a kid. I am happy to see it, but sad it has taken so long.

    China has launched the final Beidou satellite to complete its orbital navigation constellation. Launch of the Beidou-3GEO3 used the Long March/Chang Zheng-3B/G2 (Y68) rocket and lifted off on 22 June at 21:43 EDT (23 June at 01:43 UTC) from pad LC-2 at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.

    It will be “some time” before China comments on the success of the mission, but all events through third stage shutdown and initial parking orbit insertion occurred successfully.

    SpaceX has launched their Falcon 9 rocket with the third Block III Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite, named SV03. Block III is the next generation of GPS satellites, replacing the aging Block II series. This will be SpaceX’s second GPS launch, out of the five they have been awarded so far.

    This mission launched at the end of its 15 minute launch window at 16:10:46 EDT (20:10:46 UTC) on 30 June 2020 from from SLC-40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

    The 4th launch in July as well as the 48th launch this year is by Israel.

    China’s new solid rocket motor Kuaizhou-11 launch vehicle has failed on its first mission. China conducted the inaugural launch of the long-delayed Kuaizhou-11 (KZ-11) rocket at 04:17 UTC from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on Friday, carrying two satellites, before confirming the failure of the mission in the latter stages of flight, although specifics are not yet forthcoming.
