    Based upon the "it" maybe The Blob?....but I don't recall any "scientists" being involved in the plot of that movie, a doctor was one of the characters if I recall correctly.

    I meant feel free to make up your own ending. I think this was from The Thing or Invaders from Mars. Just add somethnig silly.
