    Thanks to the heroic efforts of firefighters, the Mt. Wilson Observatory is now safe from the California wildfires raging through the region.

    Lick Observatory (near San Jose) and Sierra Remote Observatory (Fresno County) came similarly close to disaster.

    I think Lick lost EE Barnard's old residence (empty for decades) and little else. Here is an article from the San Francisco Chronicle about it: https://www.sfchronicle.com/californ...k-15561656.php

    SRO (https://www.sierra-remote.com/) is in my neck of the woods and I know the three guys who started it. Here is their last update: https://www.sierra-remote.com/creek-fire.html. Until recently, their Creek Fire update page had a much longer essay about the fire and its impact on the SRO. Fortunately, it looks like they didn't sustain any damage.
