    Internet balloons in the stratosphere, guided by AI

    Alphabet (Google), after testing internet balloons during disasters (e.g., hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico), has worked out how to power them by AI to keep them in place. Note that the illustration wrongly shows a balloon near the midpoint of Earth and Moon, for some reason.

    Google announced Jan. 21 it is shutting down Loon, a venture to provide wireless connectivity by balloon that has been seen as both complementary to and competitive with satellite networks.
