2021 Mars fleet arrives - Perseverance rover, UAE Hope, China's Tianwen - 1

Feb. 9: The United Arab Emirates' first mission to Mars, the Hope orbiter, will arrive at the Red Planet.

Feb. 10: China's Tianwen-1 Mars mission, which consists of an orbiter and a lander, will arrive in orbit around the Red Planet. (The rover won't land until May 2021).

Feb. 18: NASA's newest Mars rover Perseverance will arrive at the Red Planet. The rover is expected to touch down inside the 28-mile-wide (45 kilometers) Jezero Crater at approximately 3 p.m. EST (2000 GMT).

UAE Hope mission is an orbiter, so no crash landing. The Chinese mission mission has an orbiter, lander and rover. So that is where you might get a crash landing, Before that both UAE and China need to get their missions to orbit Mars. NASA took several goes before they managed it.

The first Arab space mission, the UAE's "Hope" probe, is expected to reach Mars' orbit on Tuesday, making it the first of three spacecraft to arrive at the Red Planet this month.

The United Arab Emirates, China and the United States all launched projects to Mars last July, taking advantage of a period when the Earth and Mars are nearest.
