Starlink and OneWeb Have Their First Avoidance Maneuver With Each Otherís Constellati

Two companies, OneWeb and SpaceX, are racing to put fleets of thousands of communication satellites into orbit. In March they had their first near-miss. Avoidance maneuvers were successful, but how many more close calls will they face in the future? SpaceX has already launched over a thousand of its Starlink global broadband internet satellites, and …

SpaceX claims it has an AI-powered automated collision avoidance system onboard its spacecraft, but the company strangely shut down its system and allowed OneWeb to alter the course of its satellite instead.
There's nothing strange about that. The OneWeb satellite was already actively maneuvering into its target orbit, SpaceX locked down the Starlink satellite at their request so it wouldn't unexpectedly maneuver and cause problems for the avoidance. That's how this works.

The maneuver wasn't even necessary, 18 SPCS's revised estimates showed them passing at 1120 meters, OneWeb just didn't have the data in their own system and didn't want to wait for it.

This isn't news, it all came out nearly a month ago, including misleading early reports based on false statements by a OneWeb exec with the truth coming out later...this article apparently being based on the incorrect and sensationalized version. Why is Universe Today spreading FUD on OneWeb's behalf?
