Cool Comet Leonard May Become Naked-Eye Visible in December

Comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard) is currently at magnitude +17.3. It might reach naked-eye visibility in December, but that is currently uncertain.

The comet will pass only 0.23 AU from Earth on 2021 DEC 12. It was discovered this year in early January by G. J. Leonard at the Mount Lemmon Observatory.

Iíve created five preview graphics and an ephemeris which can be viewed on my Comets webpage: https://www.CurtRenz.com/comets.html

Photos and descriptions of the comet would be welcome additions to this thread.

I've been wishing for a great comet for a long time. Hope this is it.

I remember Hale-Bopp fondly. I had a good view of the PANSTARRS comet in March 2013 as well. I can't wait for a good naked eye comet again.

Comet Bennett (1969) was the most impressive for me, nothing has topped it since then and I've tried my best to see them all.

I was 11 in 1969 and did not see it.
But I saw Hale-Bopp several times.
