    I expect you mean Tabby’s star? AKA the WTF star (no, not spelling that out).

    It makes me think of the OnOff star in Vernor Vinge’s A Deepness in the Sky. Vernor Vinge annoys me - he’s one of my favorite authors, writing incredible idea fiction, but he has written so few stories.
