    Cool September New Moon Spotting

Itís nearly time for my monthly New Moon spotting challenge. I use the term New Moon in its classical sense of oneís first sighting of the Moon after its monthly solar conjunction (Dark Moon). Sharp-eyed observers might attempt to spot the one-day-old Moon after sunset on Tuesday, September 7th. Most others should have better luck the following evening.

My more detailed article and preview graphic can be found at https://www.CurtRenz.com/moon.html

Photos and descriptions of the young crescent Moon this month would be welcome additions to this thread.

I got a brief glimpse tonight in Tampa, through some clouds (which are turning into thunderclouds now).

I wish it had been clearer because the moon was very close to Mercury so that would have been a bonus. But, alas.

As opposed to those Chicago blizzards.
