Death of Jane Powell at 92

An excellent performer in a couple of big movie musicals but whose career ended once they fell out of fashion. I think my favourite performance of hers was in "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" 1954 - opposite Howard Keel. She also held her own playing the sister of Fred Astaire in "Royal Wedding" 1951. And because she played his sister she didn't have to worry too much around the age difference between her and Astaire.

She was typecast as the young ingenue and complained about being forced to play innocent and na´ve young girls when she was actually a mother in real life.

Her famous quote was “I didn’t quit movies,” she once said. “They quit me.”

(And here is a short clip of her, in glorious Technicolor, when she was about 21.

I really like "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and all the performers.
    RIP Jane.

Yes, a great show. They don't make ''em like that any more.
(I think that particular musical has been put on ice for PC reasons.)
