SUMMARY: A professor from the University of Arizona believes that Jupiter's moon Europa might not only sustain life, but actually foster it in various habitable "niches". Through its combination of liquid water, active tidal forces, and periodic surface exposure, the moon might encourage life faster than a cold, arid place like Mars. Microbes have been discovered on Earth which stay dormant for millions of years and then spring to life when the ice around them thaws.

I think life on Europa is exceedingly unlikely, but one can only hope right?
